1. Employee A is already below Employee B in your sync file, and thus cannot be assigned as manager.

If Employee A reports to Employee B, and you try to swap them so Employee B reports to Employee A in a single update, the system sees both reporting to each other at once. To protect your org chart, Reflektive blocks the update.

How to Fix It

You must clear the old relationship first before setting up the new one. This takes two steps:

1. Step 1: Remove the old link

Change your HRIS so Employee A no longer reports to Employee B (leave them with a temporary manager or no manager).

• Run a sync to clear the connection.

2. Step 2: Add the new link
   • Update your HRIS to assign Employee B as a direct report under Employee A.
   • Run a second sync to complete the swap.
