In performance review workflows, the review contextual panel provides quick access to key information, including employee and manager goals. A common configuration inquiry is whether goal visibility within this panel can be customized dynamically based on the reviewer’s role or review direction—specifically, hiding a manager's goals during upward feedback while retaining goal visibility for managers conducting downward reviews.
Current System Functionality
The platform currently applies a universal setting for goal visibility across the review contextual panel.
No Role-Based or Directional Controls: The system does not differentiate goal visibility based on reviewer type (e.g., direct report vs. manager) or review direction (e.g., upward feedback vs. downward performance appraisal).
Global Visibility Impact: Disabling or removing goals from the contextual panel applies universally. It is not currently possible to suppress a manager's goals during upward feedback while keeping direct report goals visible to managers during their evaluations.
Summary of Impact
| Scenario | Goal Visibility Behavior |
| Downward Reviews (Manager reviewing Direct Report) | Visible by default; hiding removes access for both parties. |
| Upward Feedback (Direct Report reviewing Manager) | Follows the global panel setting; cannot be hidden independently. |
