What is the Reflektive-JIRA Integration?
Many engineering teams use JIRA to track sprint and project progress. There is user friction when employees have to switch between multiple software to keep track of goals and growth. The Reflektive JIRA Integration allows employees and their managers to sync the status of issues in JIRA to goal progress within Reflektive, greatly reducing this pain-point.
Employees can link one or many JIRA tickets to one or more key results within each goal. The progress of the key result will be driven by the status of the JIRA ticket(s) that are attached to the key result.
1. Once the Reflektive to JIRA integration has been set up by your HR administrator, you are now able to link a goal to an item within JIRA. The employee can select “Measure By JIRA” from the set of measurement options in the key result creation process.
2. After selecting “Measure with JIRA”, the employee can utilize JQL queries with their JIRA instance for a set of issues, link those issues to the key result, and then save their goal by clicking "Link".
If you have access to creating issues within your JIRA instance, you can test this by creating your own issue and then linking it from the Reflektive side.
3. Once linked, you can hover your mouse over # Issues Linked and see the query you used. Clicking on the link allows you to modify what you've linked - you can link as many or as few issues to a OKR as you wish.
4.Once you click "Save", you'll see the OKR update with a small JIRA icon next to it. Reflektive automatically updates the progress of goal (approximately every 30 minutes) based on the status of the linked JIRA issues. This is a read-only sync from the customer’s JIRA to Reflektive.
On the JIRA side of things, imagine if the issue closes. The corresponding OKR in Reflektive that is linked to this issue will now go to 100% because the one linked JIRA issue was completed.
Now imagine if you had two issues tied to this OKR, and only one closes, while the other remains open. Progress of that key result is determined by the number of closed issues divided by the total number of issues returned by the JIRA query. In this example, there was one closed issue out of two total issues (1/2 = 50% key result completion).
Q: Every time an issue is closed in JIRA, will that prompt Reflektive to send an email to anyone?
A: Closing an issue in JIRA does not prompt Reflektive to send update emails. The emails only go out when the employee directly updates the goal within Reflektive.
